The goalkeeper and shooter training of the Handball Goalkeeper Academy

In Hungary there is lack of those sports which are also attractive and successful. Handball is one of them: our club teams annually compete in the Champion’s League elite, and our national teams (men and women) are parts of the elite of the world for decades. Everybody – including trainers and sport lovers- know that the structure of a handball team starts with getting a good goalkeeper. A good goalkeeper gives endurance, strength and self—confidence to the team, because an attacker can miss a leave, the defender can make a mistake, but if the goalkeeper is in its place then he or she can save the situation with bravours. With an outstanding goalkeeper efficiency a weaker team can stay in possession, moreover they can defeat the stronger opponent. Besides a very important goalkeeper, a team needs goals to achieve a victory. A team needs a „group of artillery”, because without them it is going to be a hopeless and pointless wrestling with the opponent’s defending. Good shooters can defeat the defenders, can score goals of the match and they can make the opportunities for the other positions to score. The goalkeeper and the shooters are cores of a handball team. The wingers can demoralize the opponent with fast runs and easy goals, or they can open a very well-defending wall efficiently to support his/her own team.

Despite neither Hungary nor our capital city,Budapest has an indepent systematic course for the new generation and for adult players. Our Academy was established to recover this lack of trainings of professional goalkeeping and shooting from the middle or even from the wings.

Our philosophy

Our Academy is an independent institution from clubs just standing on a base of profession. Our Academy trains goalkeepers, shooters and wingers in handball.  The Academy offers training for men and women from age 10 to adults. The Academy’s most importart principle is the PERSONAL training. We believe that every person is irrepetible. Every child and adult has different inborn skills, lives in different surroundings and arrives with different ambitions. Due to this it is necessary to have an own way of training for the optimal development. You can only execute this kind of training in little groups efficiently and because of this our coaches works in groups of number 6-9. This number proves the personal guidance, training for them with some psyhological coaching. For advanced players our Academy proves a possibility of a collective training because the trainings are in the same time. The goalkeepers can practice their moves while a shooter or a winger can do techniques and can shoot to a real goalkeeper. In this way they aren’t just developing special shape but can practice their techniques.

Our trainers:

All of the coaches of the Academy are world-known, recorded players of Hungary. They have been recorded as active sportsmen and also as coaches in their profession for many years. Their names and knowledge is a guarantee for the quality of the training being held.

Player license

The Academy is not a sport club, so the Academy DOES NOT POSSESS with the member’s license. The Academy’s declared purpose is to do not be a club, it will keep its independence from the clubs for years. The Academy is for members who wants  to develop their skill of goalkeeping or shooting from the wings, even if he/she has a license in a club or he/she is just an amateur who likes sports. The member stays at his/her own club, his/her playing license is valid for that club. Being a member of the Academy is just like going to an English teacher or riding a horse beside the trainings of his/her own club.

The annual way of a training:

The Academy’s training –according to the trainings of clubs- is in an annual ten-month long system from September to June. The Academy offers a basic training (one training per week) and optionally an intensive training (two trainings per week). Their could be more trainings for adults if it is required. During summer (July and August) the Academy organises special, intensive day-boarder or optionally residential training camps for goalkeepers and shooters too.
